MEET SAM

Samantha Warren's couples have called her "A ROCK STAR!!!," "my HERO!!!" and more than once, "simply AMAZING!!!" But above all else, Sam is PASSIONATE!!! and it infuses all that she does, and will do.

An award-winning writer and photographer, Sam lives and makes art in a colorful cape in Portland, Maine alongside her husband, Kyle; their beloved German Wirehair Pointer, the admirable Alder; and Nikon, a German Shorthair Pointer who like his namesake (which Sam just happens to shoot with), is fast and focused. She has served as a staff writer and photographer for newspapers in Western Maine including the Rangeley Highlander and the Lewiston Sun Journal and was the youngest newspaper editor in the state when at 20, she took on the editorship of the Livermore Falls Advertiser, a weekly newspaper where she won awards from the Maine Press Association and New England Press Association. In addition, Sam’s writing and photography has appeared in the University of Maine at Farmington’s alumni magazine; the Portland-based Mainebiz, and numerous other publications around the state. Her photos of Monhegan Island taken for the Maine Office of Tourism appeared in the Sunday Travel section of the Washington Post and in newspapers around the country.

It was during her newspaper work that Sam soon realized the value of strong imagery in storytelling, and threw herself into exploring how to become a better photographer to compliment her writing. Sam’s venture into wedding photojournalism is a result of her and Kyle's experiences in planning their own wedding and her desire to offer intimate and imaginative images to similarly inspired couples. Within a year of beginning her business, Sam was accepted into The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), which has honored her creative portrait and ceremony photographs in their quarterly international contest as well as awarded her a third place in the ceremony category in its first ever WPJA/BRIDES Magazine Photo Competition. Samantha Warren Weddings' work and story has been featured in Real Maine Weddings, the Lewiston Sun Journal, the Morning Sentinel/Kennebec Journal, the Maine Public Relations Journal, Farmington First, on the Back to Business Show and in countless blogs around the Web. That said, it is the praise and new friendships from those she photographs that Sam is most proud of.

When not photographing weddings, Sam can be found toiling away on her Master's degree, debating politics, reading celebrity gossip blogs, trying to channel Martha Stewart, eating things she definitely shouldn't, skiing across Maine and romping through the fields and streams with Kyle and "the kids” as together, they plan and live out their next adventure together.
