WELCOME TO THE BLOG OF SAMANTHA WARREN WEDDINGS

My name is Samantha Warren (Sam will do and is actually preferred) and I am an award-winning Maine-based wedding photojournalist who owns/operates Samantha Warren Weddings out of a colorful cape in Portland where I live with my husband, Kyle, and our two pointers, Alder and Nikon.

I invite you to take some time to explore my blog, which is updated often with good news and great views (usually of people in love but habitually of our hounds). If you love what you see, please do leave a comment, or contact me for my availability.

All my best,
Sam

Kristyn & Paul's Bailey Island Wedding: Featured in Seacoast Bride

Photobucket

I'm happy to share that Kristyn and Paul's Bailey Island wedding is featured in the 2011 issue of the stunning Seacoast Bride magazine, which is available now on newsstands through Maine and New Hampshire. Their Saturday wedding was just two days before the submission deadline, but I felt the intimacy of their day and all its delightful details would be a nice match for the magazine and so I scurried to send a disc of some of my favorite images from an initial review to its editors. (Other than a slight contrast bump, they weren't even edited!)

I never heard back and assumed the disc wasn't delivered on time, so imagine my surprise when the magazine arrived in my mailbox last week! I am of course honored to be included (along with many other talented Maine wedding photographers) but more so proud of Kristyn and Paul, whose thoughtful celebration was quite deserving of inclusion. Kristyn is a professional baker (she owns the Boston-based Quintessential Cakes and actually made her own), but as you can see from the spread, she could certainly consider a secondary stint as a wedding planner/stylist!

You can see the two-page layout above, or visit Seacoast Bride's website to e-browse the magazine online. And to see more of Kristyn and Paul's wedding, click here to watch their slideshow and to meet their complete team of wedding day vendors on the Samantha Warren Weddings blog.

(The Album) Shana & Chris: Bangor, Maine Wedding

Photobucket

What's black and white and red (or read) all over (and over, and over)? It's Shana and Chris' signature album from their beautiful Bangor Maine Wedding this past August (see slideshow here and blog entry here).

Shana and Chris hadn't initially planned on an album, but the week before their wedding, smartly upgraded their package to include one. And then once they saw their images, they further upgraded, expanding the size to a 12 x 12 and adding a metal cover (yeah, for real- a metal cover- how cool is that). The result is a serious stunner, and they thought so too. Here is what they wrote to me upon receipt:

Hey Sam, we just got our hands on our beautiful album! It is so much much beautiful than I ever imagined possible. You are such a talented person! I cannot believe how stunning the metal album cover came out, and how thick and sturdy the pages are. Not to mention how excited I was just unwrapping the elaborate wrapping, haha (I do adore great wrapping). We are absolutely in love and cannot wait to share our album with all of our family and friends. Thank you so much for capturing our day so perfectly. Our album is such an amazing way to remember our day and what an amazing year 2010 truly was. Happy New Year to you and Kyle!
All our love, Chris & Shana

So what's all the fuss about? See for yourself.

Couples always compliment how crisp the quality of the album printing is. Check out this close-up of this picture of the printed picture and you'll see why.

A two-page spread (two feet across!) featuring the entire wedding party. Take note (if you can find it) of the barely-there gutter where the two pages come together.

Another two-pager, this one featuring Shana's favorite image from the day, which I too adore. I bet passersby who saw me sneaking behind that ramshackle red building with a bride and groom never would have imagined what the heck we were doing, let alone that we'd come out with this!

Love the light in the images from this spread, and how the printing perfectly conveyed it in all its buttery, golden glory! You can practically feel the warmth on your face!

And, here is a look at some of the layout files from the album. You are looking at the spreads (so two pages, each 12 x 12).
