Summer officially started with a York Beach visit with the Spencer family (Emily and Cady and Jimmy, who were one of my first wedding couples) after I did a wedding at the York Harbor Inn on Memorial Day weekend, and on Sunday, we came full circle with a day at York Beach followed by a lobster bake with Cady's family to send the summer out in style. Cady had asked if I'd bring my camera down with me so I could get a nice clean and simple family portrait of the three of them, as they are hoping to add to the family sometime soon. Suffice to say, after a full day at the beach, Emily was a bit fussy but thanks to some impressive hermit crab wrangling skills from Kyle, we were able to get a few shots before the thought of the lobster feast awaiting back at the beach house lured us away. Of course, there were many nice portraits, per Cady's request, but I also got a few fun images I wanted to share. (My favorite of course is the one at the top of this post. I thought shooting primarily in silhouette would be the best way to counteract a crying toddler and I love that kiss of sunlight on Cady's face.)
Check out those baby blues! They practically match that cute little Polo dress!

Emily has grown up so much this summer, from an infant to a toddler who is walking and talking! But she's still pretty tiny!

She was very enthralled with Kyle (standing behind me), who found her a little hermit crab to play with. She kept reaching out her little fingers and saying "Bug, bug, bug!"

I love this shot even though it really was an outtake. I was trying to adjust my exposure for the silhouetted shot, and Cady and Jimmy leaned in for a quick kiss, and I think it's so funny that he's reaching down for Emily, but she only wants mommy's hands.

And one nice one, just for good measure.

What a beautiful baby! I love those shots with the screaming orange sunset light. Very edgy and very beautiful!
